Cinnamon Roll French Toast

Slow weekend mornings call for a tasty breakfast and definitely extra cups of coffee. Or one that you top off multiple times to reheat if you’re anything like me 🙋‍♀️ ⁣

Disclaimer: the only reason I wouldn’t have this breakfast during the week is because I don’t have enough time, not because you can only have French toast, or any other foods you want, on the weekend! All foods can fit into a healthy diet

This Cinnamon Roll French toast is one of my favorite breakfasts to make when I have more time in the morning. Growing up, we always got to choose our birthday breakfast and I always chose French toast! I still love it and this French toast is even tastier than the regular kind.⁣

Ingredients: (Serves 2-4)⁣

For the French Toast:⁣
1/2 cup egg whites ⁣
1/2 cup almond milk (or milk of choice)⁣
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract ⁣
4 slices of whole grain bread ⁣

For cinnamon sugar: ⁣
2 tablespoons sugar (can sub stevia, but the real stuff is better)⁣
1 tablespoons brown sugar⁣
2 teaspoons cinnamon ⁣

For the cream cheese glaze: ⁣
2 tablespoons reduced fat cream cheese, softened ⁣
2 tablespoons powdered sugar ⁣
2 tablespoons almond milk ⁣
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract ⁣

Instructions:⁣
1. Heat large skillet to medium heat. ⁣
2. Mix cinnamon sugar ingredients in a shallow bowl; set aside. ⁣
3. Mix cream cheese glaze ingredients in a small bowl; set aside. ⁣
4. Mix together egg whites, milk, and vanilla in a shallow bowl. Dip bread into mixture, then place in skillet. Cook about 3 minutes or until golden brown, flip and cook until golden brown.⁣
5. Remove from skillet; sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Drizzle with cream cheese glaze, serve immediately. ⁣

I like to serve it with scrambled eggs and/or bacon since I love a sweet and salty combo!
